- An empathic, yet directive, counseling style
- Semi-structured techniques to help increase motivation for change
- How to “roll with resistance”
- To use information and feedback as a motivational tool
- How to help clients/patients commit to a change plan appropriate to their stage of change
Who should attend?
This introductory workshop focuses on core skills applicable across addictions treatment, health care, mental health, and human service settings. You will benefit from this workshop if you want a practical, hands-on introduction to using MI to increase motivation for change.
How it works:
The course is provided by live conference call. All you need is a phone! I will use many of the same demonstrations and interactive exercises as in my face-to-face workshops. Sessions are live and fully interactive – everyone can talk to and hear each other. Class size is limited to 10 to allow everyone to participate. You will be responsible for long distance charges for calling in to the teleclass. Handouts and supplemental materials will be provided online. Calls will be recorded and made available for a limited time for review by workshop participants only.
