3. History and theory:

I skimmed over (especially in the afternoon session) my explanation of where MI came from and the various strands of practical experience and empirical evidence that contributed to its development. If you are interested in such things, then Motivational Interviewing, Second Edition: Preparing People for Change by Miller and Rollnick is for you.

3. Technique-oriented materials

There are a number of training videos available. For the most part they focus on addictive and health-related behavior. I recommend the 7-tape series for its numerous clinical examples.

The MI web site Library page includes links to various materials such as decisional balance worksheets, readiness rulers, etc.
