Project MATCH Motivational Enhancement Therapy Manual (available from NIAAA for $6.00)

  • This 4-session protocol for problem drinkers was tested in Project MATCH. Outcome was comparable to 12-session Cognitive-Behavioral and 12-Step Facilitation approaches. MET does not attempt to guide and train the client, step by step, through recovery, but instead employs motivational strategies to mobilize the client's own change resources. This manual has been adapted for use with other target populations and serves as a useful template for developing brief interventions.

Motivational Enhancement Therapy With Drug Abusers (free - PDF online)

  • This is an adaptation and extension of the Project MATCH MET manual (see above) for use with drug abusers.
