Video Case Examples - from the 1998 MI Professional Training Series available from the University of New Mexico.
1. Here is the example I was going to play during my talk. It runs about 16 minutes, but you'll get a good feel for the client-centered/directive quality of MI style in about 10 minutes.
2. Here is another example, illustrating the use of the decisional balance or "the good things and the not-so-good things" about drinking. It runs about 6 minutes or so.

Motivational Interviewing in Health Care: Helping Patients Change Behavior by Rollnick, Miller, & Butler
- Another long-awaited new book, presenting a streamlined model of MI application for health care providers who are not counselors by training. What I love about this one is that it anticipates and responds to just about every question or concern I have heard when working with folks in medical settings. You can tell the authors have done their homework.
